I have been using the Quick-As practice management system now for several months in my busy practice in Auckland after researching all the various systems available. It has revolutionised the way I handle the administrative side of my practice, it's an easy and intuitive way of working enabling me to provide a better, faster and more professional service to my patients, particularly in the areas such as receipting and invoicing, communication and financial management.

The new online ACC invoicing, which took only minutes to learn, has reduced ACC claims to little more than a press of a button once a week and has dramatically reduced the number of hours taken up by paperwork. The new automatic receipting-by-email function has saved at least two hours a week as well as reducing costs.

Perhaps most importantly is that when I need help with Quick-As, the support has been prompt and efficient.

I believe that Quick-As is great value, has paid for itself many times over and continues to improve all the time. I have not been able to detail all the benefits of using this system because they are simply too many! I would be more than happy to take the time to talk with anyone considering the system and answer any questions they have. Please call me on 09 5351999.

I don’t think I’ve had a single no show since SMS reminders – and any cxx have been more timely. Thank you

Let me introduce myself as one of the authors of this systems.

I am a forty-something year old health professional. Married with two children I live in New Zealand.

Until recently I ran a multi-disciplinary health practice in a fairly typical small town working long hours and never really catching up with patient demand, financial pressure and home life. I have been in practice in one form or another for nearly 20 years and in a bizarre way I (and many of my friends and peers) regarded myself as being successful in that environment.

Sound familiar?

My parents live overseas and in 2004 I had the opportunity to make an extended trip to visit them, taking my wife and our two children with us.

By the time I had organised two receptionists, locum practitioners, liased with our clinic outworkers and put in place all the ancillary staff associated with taking care of the practice and our home I became acutely aware of three things

  1. It was not cost effective. I had been aware for some time that my business overheads were high. Approximately 50-60% of my annual turnover was going on “other stuff.” In the business of exchanging time for money that meant that half of my time was spent earning money just to stay in business.
  2. It was overly complicated. By the time I had everything in place that I needed in order to go on holiday, I was beginning to wonder if it was worth it!
  3. The problems generated by leaving the business took some of the ‘fun’ out of being away. I ended up spending a significant amount of my time ‘stressing’ about whether I had covered everything that I needed to.

In short there had to be a better way.
